Yes he is a company flack, but he is a good kind of company flack.
(And no, I am not trying to suck up to him for a fee account, job, or even the latest phone, although I would accept all 3).

4th and Final Round
Thursday, June 28, 2007
Last Friday, I had a fourth and what has to be the final round of a marathon interview schedule with KXAS NBC TV5 in Dallas. This time I had the pleasure of meeting the President and GM of the Station as well as the main HR person in the organization.
I would think at this point I should be the likely candidate (why would you drag more than one person through 4 interviews with 9 different people). However, I seem to be getting some double speak from the HR folks that there are multiple other candidates out there.
Are they for real? Are they just messing with my head?
I guess the real answer I need to do is not focus on them and develop other better opportunities for myself, and push on them more.
Right now Plan B is looking promising and we are closer to making that a reality. Based on what I have heard from the others, launch could be imminent and I could be off to the races in short order.
Plan C with another organization is in the works, and I need to double back and push on that one. I think there is a great opportunity for me there. I just need to make it happen.
Otherwise all is not dead yet. My current position my hang in there for a short time longer than expected as things have not come together as quickly as they had expected. I am still planning on taking a week off and going to Colorado. I need to get a clear head and welcome break from where I am today. |

3rd Round Complete. Will there be a 4th?
Friday, June 15, 2007
I had my 3rd round of interviews today and I think it went all right, but then I am never sure.
I think the person I interviewed with this morning and I can work together, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with them. I think she was a little surprised that this was a 3rd round and but I hope she feels she is going to get her say.
On another note, when I signed in this morning, I noticed there were not a lot of visitors that had signed in since I was last there, I get the feeling that I am either the only candidate remaining or maybe have been the only candidate. I could be wrong and they maybe interviewing other candidates at the other location in Ft Worth, but since the job would be located in Dallas, I question that.
Hey found this great cartoon from Dan Pirarro I hope you enjoy it. Have a great weekend!!!

Round 3
Tuesday, June 12, 2007
I have not written a lot about a set of interviews I have had recently, but since I am now going to round 3 with the same organization, I guess they are taking a serious look.
The position is a pricing management position with KXAS the local NBC TV Channel 5. They are looking to do something unique in the local market as well as the industry. I am not sure how all of this will work out in the end.
I really don't know what the next steps are. I get through an interview and wait to hear the next week if they want to see me again. I just don't know how many interviews or the gates I need to go through to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Is this Friday's the last or is there more people I need to meet?
I guess I am just not in full interview mode yet, but I don't ever remember being comfortable with the whole process. Lots of uncertainty.
I have a few other things in the works in the meantime. One position is almost ready to go, I am getting calls from headhunters on almost a daily basis, and my network has been most generous to me and has been keeping things flowing to me, hardcore positions that are available and they are willing to help me in.
I know at times I need to be a taker, but I am glad even now as I am taking I am still able to give back. I have come up with a few leads for others and glad to always pay back and pay it forward. To my networking friends and contacts who are reading this....Thank you, please do not hesitate to call on me.
I will let you know what happens... in the meantime I keep the candle lit (see my posts from last year and you will understand.)Labels: Job Candle, KXAS, NBC-Universal, NBC5I, Networking, Pricing |

Feeling Fat, not Phat
Monday, June 04, 2007

I woke up this morning, looked in the mirror and did not like what I saw. Fortunately my wife was not standing behind me and so I have no excuse. I have been putting off some of outdoor activities this year due to the rains we have had, but that is a pretty bad excuse. I am afraid if I go to the pool so kid is going to yell "hey we have beached whale". For the good of my job search, my body, and developing a better outlook on life, I am headed back to the gym at lunchtimes. No more excuses. Besides, who wants to hire a fat guy. On another subject, I had an interview last week with our local affiliate station of NBC. They are seeking to fill a pricing/inventory position. I am not sure how the interview went, but I am using all of my resources to help myself out. One important resource I used going in was Google and Linkedin. I walked in the door knowing more about them, than they did about me and they had my resume in advance. I found articles on one of the principles, and information on the others that helped me plan my message around what I believed to be their biases. I then had the opportunity to determine if I was right and tailor some specifics as we spoke. I walked in about as prepared as I could be. Result - one of the interviewers wrote down a specific quote because he knew he could use it later and wanted to get exactly. It really homed in on the situation. I don't know if I am the candidate or not or even if I get another bite at the apple for another week or so. I hope this works out... I think it would be a great opportunity (for both them and me).
