While not a charity, the costs are very reasonable $10 to join, $10/month and they offer programming, jobsearch help, some counseling, and even a cup of Joe. The goup meets 10-12AM Tuesday Mornings (9:00 for newbies orientation) @ Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church (Don't worry no one is going to make you pray).

| A small experiment |

Tuesday night I went to a FENG meeting and networked with about 10 people. When I got home that evening, I wrote a short email to each one commenting on how much it was a pleasure to meet them or see them again, something about what we talked about and asking them to call on me if I could be of assistance in their search.
A very interesting thing came back. Notes from about 8 or 9 of the ten, two offers to meet for coffee or lunch, a few job leads, and requests from a number of people for a copy of my resume.
I really need to make sure I follow up with everyone I meet along the way right after I meet them and get contact information. |
